We had a quick trip to NYC this past weekend. It was very warm!! Almost too warm in the sun. We tried walking only on the shady side of the streets! I absolutely LOVE lilacs. I grew up in Massachusetts were we had a large lilac tree in our yard. We would take cuttings and put them in water and the whole house would smell so lovely. They are so fragrant. I miss that now that we live in Texas!

What a great trip! I would so love a lilac tree. I'm in Southern Calif. right now in a condo but I have a house in Washington state and I know lilac grows well there. Someday soon...
ReplyDeleteOh you lucky girl!!!! To get to go to NY City in the Spring would be divine! I'm a Texas gilr too! Isn't it fun to meet others from Blogland & find they are close to home. Lilac's... I have never had the pleasure in seeing them in bloom in nature. I would love to go to the Lilac Festival in Mackinac Island. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteLove all the flowers in New York -- we have much of the same flowers on the prairie -- and spring is so beautiful here -- then we have the heat of summer -- sigh -- hot, humid and no rain -- not nice for a garden!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I agree New York city is beautiful in springtime I so enjoyed the photos. thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sue
Well, as a native New Yorker, I'd say that NY is beautiful no matter what the season ...but the light green leaves and blossoming trees of April and May are indeed special.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had a good time!
We are lucky to have two sturdy and healthy Lilac trees here at That Old House, and one of them is just inching into bloom. Yay!

Oooooh I would LOVE to spend a day outside in NYC!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Love lilacs also! Mine is just hinting at blooming. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful tree, but I don't know what kind it is either.
ReplyDeleteI love lilacs and I'm waiting for mine to bud out and then bloom (you can see pictures of my lilacs on my blog). As soon as they bloom I fill a large vase for the inside. I just love them. You have great pictures of spring in NY.

Very nice finds in NYC.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing them.
What a lovely trip. We actually have lilacs here in my part of Arkansas but all of our Northern retirees here tell me they are nothing compared to what they used to have "up North." :)
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the trees lining both sides of the street. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think the tree is a wild cherry - Oshimazakura. The wild trees and some cultivars have only 5 petals per blossom.
ReplyDeleteI wish lilac grew better here where I live. I have one small one that blooms briefly. New York looks lovely in the spring.

Those flowering trees are simply gorgeous! It was supposedly a gorgeous weekend in NYC.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing spring in New York. We have lilacs here in Missouri. Mine are just now about to finish blooming. I read the other day to cut all of them off after they blooom and then to feed the bushes. I am going to try that this year.
ReplyDeleteSorry I am late getting around to visit... I hope you had a Happy Outdoor Wednesday....and that you will participate again soon! Thanks for sharing your photos.~ Susan
